Yesterday afternoon (23 September), City of London law firm Carter Lemon Camerons LLP (CLC) welcomed clients, contacts and England Women’s Rugby player, Rachael Burford, for the screening of the Australia vs. Fiji match.
A 56 cap centre and World Cup winner with England, Rachael spoke with passion about the rugby she has played for club and country, as well as the joy of playing with family and friends and the commitment and effort required of elite sportspeople.
The evening, which saw the Wallabies win with a score of 28-13, was a great success. Rachael Burford commented: “I really liked what CLC did, keeping it relaxed and informal with beers and pies; it was a great afternoon to be involved in. This is one of the things I love about rugby – it brings people together.”
Rufus Ballaster, Partner at CLC, added: “Rachael Burford delivered a highly engaging, motivating and inspiring speech and it was lovely that she stuck around to mingle with our guests. The afternoon was enjoyed by all and the Australian team put on an impressive show, resulting in a great match. I’m pleased to report that we had lots of positive feedback from attendees and I’m looking forward to our next screening* – while hoping England are not in that as they should be playing in the final on the following day!”
*CLC will be showing the Third Place play-off match on Friday 30 October. Those who think that they can predict the score of this match will be invited to take part in CLC’s competition (once the teams involved are known) for the chance to win a bottle of bubbly and a donation to a charity of their choice. To join CLC at 10 Aldersgate Street, EC1A 4HJ for this match, please send a message to Lyndsey Muse and arrive from 18:00.
